Детектив Себастьян Кастелланос вместе с двумя напарниками — Джозефом Ода и Джулией Кидман, а также офицером полиции Оскаром Конелли приезжают на вызов в психиатрическую лечебницу «Маяк». По пути они слышат странный высокочастотный шум из рации. По приезде в госпиталь внутри они обнаруживают тела зверски убитого персонала и пациентов. Единственный выживший — доктор Марсело Хименес — упоминает о неком Рувике, который, вероятно, устроил эту бойню, доктор говорит что это не может быть реальностью. В комнате охраны удаётся найти записи с камер слежения. На плёнке видно, как человек в балахоне убивает полицейских, а через мгновение, обернувшись, Себастьян видит его перед собой, тот наносит удар и экран темнеет. Далее Себастьян приходит в себя в тёмном подвале, похожем на скотобойню, и чудом выживает, убегая от психа «Садиста» с бензопилой. Выбравшись через лифт к входу в лечебницу, детектив Кастелланос видит, как город начинает разрушаться. Его подбирают напарники на машине скорой помощи. Джозеф так и не вернулся, а рядом с Хименесом сидит его пациент — Лесли Визерс. В конце поездки машина падает с обрыва, а Себастьян приходит в себя уже один, в ночном лесу, и видит превратившегося в одержимого зомби Конелли.
Постепенно его начинают терзать сомнения, что он находится в реальном мире. Из живых «реальных» людей здесь только он и встречающиеся по пути Джозеф, Кидман, Хименес и Лесли. Все остальные превратились в агрессивных существ, потерявших разум: одержимых. Побывав в нескольких локациях, заполненных одержимыми, и несколько раз пересекаясь с напарниками, а также Рувиком, Себастьян попадает в старинное поместье, где история начинает проясняться.

Fox News has sent a letter to Tucker Carlson's lawyers, letting them know that the recently-fired host is in breach of his network contract by launching his new show on Twitter this past week. This sets the stage for a potential lawsuit from the network against Carlson, as they allegedly own the rights to Tucker on camera. Fox News was forced to send a letter to Tucker Carlson's lawyers this week informing them that the former Fox News host is now in breach of his contract because he officially launched his new show on Twitter on Tuesday of this week. The show did premiere. It lasted a little bit more than 10 minutes. It was definitely not the same caliber that Tucker Carlson's fans are used to. But part of that is because a couple weeks ago, Fox News actually went up to Carlson's house and ripped everything out of the studio they had built for 'em there. So Tucker Carlson's operating on a bit of a shoestring budget with uh, you know, kind of a homemade set, but he put it out there. He had a title for it, a name for the show. It was an official quote unquote show. And Fox News says, hold up there big boy.
We own Tucker Carlson talking about politics because that is how it is written in your contract. That, by the way, is still in effect for another year. So you can't do this. You can't do any of this because we own you. Now, Tucker Carlson's lawyers have fought back saying, whoa, whoa, hold up. You can't do that because that's a violation of my client's right to freedom of speech. He has the right to go out there and say what he wants to say, and you can't stop him. And I gotta tell you, based on what I've read from the contract, and based on Tucker Carlson's lawyer's argument here, Tucker Carlson is screwed. First and foremost, Fox News as a private entity, as a corporation, cannot violate the First Amendment for someone else. Them telling Tucker he's not allowed to say these certain things is not a violation of the Constitution because the First Amendment only applies to government entities regulating your speech.
I don't know how these men who allegedly went to law school that are representing Tucker didn't realize that, or maybe they hoped that the Fox News lawyers are so stupid that they don't realize that only the government can impede your First Amendment rights. So their argument that Fox's, you know, trampling his First Amendment rights, that's immediately thrown out because Fox News is not a government entity. I know they want to be, but they're not. And then there's the contract now in contract law ambiguity benefits the Signee party, which means that any, if there's anything ambiguous in that contract, it would benefit Tucker Carlson and his lawyers would be able to skew it to do whatever they need to do within that vagueness. I hope that makes sense. Uh, but here is what the contract says according to Axios, pursuant to the terms of the agreement, Mr. Carlson's
Services shall be completely exclusive to Fox. It adds that Carlson's contract says he is, quote, prohibited from rendering services of any type whatsoever, whether over the internet via streaming or similar distribution or other digital distribution, whether now known or hereafter devised. So yeah, sounds like you're not gonna be able to say anything until January of 2025 Tuck because they kind of covered all their bases with that clause in that contract. Like you're not allowed to do anything whatsoever. It says you can't even be on platforms or new means of distribution that haven't been invented yet. Like that's how thorough they got with that contract to make sure Tucker Carlson couldn't leave and go do his own thing. Like you can't even do things that don't even exist yet.
Tucker Carlson has relaunched his political show on social media, around a month after he was dropped by Fox.
Carlson spoke about Ukraine and a new claim by a whistleblower that alien life is real and the US Government has been storing alien craft.

This cobbler is the dessert I’ll be bringing to every birthday party and picnic this summer. It’s strawberry shortcake without the fuss. It’s less one-note (thanks to brown sugar and cornmeal), made of mostly pantry staples, and takes about 30 minutes to make since everything bakes together at once. The shortcakes are nutty, fluffy, and just savory enough to cut through the sweetness of the berries. Don’t worry about using the best, peak-season strawberries here–after a trip to the oven with some lemon juice and sugar, even the saddest strawberries will taste as juicy as can be. Take a few minutes while it’s baking to make some fresh whipped cream. Trust me, it will be well worth it.

This chocolate banana bread is an ideal snacking cake, and also a good starter dessert if you, like Dan, are intimidated by baking. It teaches you some fundamentals, while being basically error-proof. Deeply chocolatey, with many little pockets of banana throughout, crunchy on the outside and never dry on the inside, it’s just a really great dessert to have in your repertoire.

There is nothing quite as satisfying as a crispy, juicy cutlet. It’s not something I make for myself very often, but when I do I’m reminded instantly of why I love it. This one is inspired by some of my favorite New York City restaurants, and is somewhere between a milanese and a schnitzel. It works with chicken or pork, and I serve it with dijon for dipping, lemon wedges for squeezing, cornichons for snacking, and dirty martinis for drinking. There’s a crunchy, bright fennel salad that goes along with it, and it’s my dream dinner. It’s special, and makes you feel a little glamorous even if you’re basically eating chicken fingers. You should make it for someone you love.

In the first episode of Home Movies with Alison Roman (that's me), I'm going to be showing you how I make meatballs from my newsletter, cleverly titled, "A Newsletter." While a lot of my recipes are inspired by something FUN and WONDERFUL, these ones were inspired by.....something, uh, not great. Anyway, I won't say this is the ONLY way to make meatballs, but I do think it's the BEST. There's isn’t really a “secret” to them, but there are two important steps that make a huge difference:
1. Using bread crumbs instead of fresh bread, and soaking them in a mixture of ricotta and egg for at least 10 minutes. This is essentially the “soak milk in bread” step you’ll find in many meatball recipes, but instead of soaking the bread in milk, soak it in cheese. Cheese is better than milk. Simple math. This means the meatballs will be richer, more flavorful with the added bonus of never having to say "now I'm going to soak milk in bread."
2. Searing the meatballs in the pot, *then* making the sauce. Meatballs done on a sheet pan are not bad, but they are not browned, and the browning is what is going to not only make our meatballs taste amazing, but the sauce, too (and yes, I've tested side by side, and YES there IS a difference!). Doing them in a pot is more work, sure, but you reap the rewards in the form of fat and juicy bits and browned, delicious meat that all flavor your tomato sauce as you finish gently cooking the meatballs.
